Department of Clinical Pharmacy Faculty Appointed to Board of Pharmacy Specialties Councils For 2023-2025 Term

Department of Clinical Pharmacy faculty, Farah Khorassani, health sciences associate clinical professor, and Alexandre Chan, professor of clinical pharmacy and founding chair, have been appointed to their respective Board of Pharmacy Specialties Councils for the 2023-2025 term.

The Board of Pharmacy Specialties, the premier post-licensure certification agency, ensures all BPS Board Certified Pharmacists are recognized within healthcare delivery systems while serving the needs of the public and the pharmacy profession.

The Mission of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties is to improve patient care by promoting the recognition and value of specialized training, knowledge, and skills in pharmacy and specialty board certification of pharmacists.

Khorassani has been appointed by the Specialty Council on Psychiatric Pharmacy, while Chan has been appointed to the Specialty Council on Oncology Pharmacy.

In their roles, Khorassani and Chan will serve board-certified pharmacists by providing recommendations on certification and recertification standards and developing examination content.

Specialty Council appointees are selected by exemplifying leadership and excellence within their pharmacy specialty, demonstrating effective communication and teamwork skills, and professional development through previous volunteer experiences.

Khorassani and Chan join fellow Department of Clinical Pharmacy faculty member Shawn Griffin, health sciences assistant clinical professor, who was appointed to the Specialty Council on Pharmacotherapy for the 2022-2024 term.
