Dr. Shawn Griffin Received Volunteer Award from Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA)

Dr. Shawn Griffin, health sciences assistant clinical professor in the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, was honored by the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) with their Volunteer Award!

The Volunteer Award is given by HOPA to their members who dedicate volunteer service to the organization by participating in a committee or task force or serving as a representative of the group. Dr. Griffin is chair of the HOPA Practice Outcomes and Professional Benchmarking Committee.

“In this role, I have led a team of a dozen oncology pharmacists from across the country to describe the landscape of oncology pharmacy practice in the US and define the resources needed to complete the most common oncology pharmacy tasks,” he stated. “These efforts have served to better describe the role of the oncology pharmacist, and more importantly, provided tools needed to evaluate the productivity of the oncology pharmacist.”

Dr. Griffin’s passion for volunteering is not limited to his work with HOPA. As a 2023 co-captain of UCI Pharmacy’s Anti-Cancer Challenge Team, he helped lead students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the UCI School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences and the UCI Health Department of Pharmacy Services to raise $6,570 for cancer research.

The 2024 HOPA award winners were recognized at the HOPA Annual Conference. Congratulations to Dr. Griffin and all who received awards this year!
