John Chaput Receives 2022-2023 Distinguished Mid-Career Faculty Award for Research

Pharmaceutical Sciences Professor, Dr. John Chaput, received the 2022-2023 Distinguished Mid-Career Faculty Award for Research from the UC Irvine Academic Senate and will be honored at a reception later this year.

The Distinguished Faculty Awards recognize faculty who have brought significant distinction to UCI through their research, teaching, mentorship or service to the University and community.

These awards represent one of the highest honors the academic senate bestows on its faculty and provides the opportunity for faculty to recognize the outstanding achievements of their colleagues.

John Chaput is a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UCI. His research focuses on developing the next generation of diagnostic and therapeutic agents. His lab works on early-stage drug discovery, designing artificial genetic polymers that look like DNA and RNA, but have the potential to serve as new reagents for the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases.

“This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of all the students that have trained in my lab over the years, many of whom have now gone on to successful careers of their own,” says Chaput. “It’s really a team effort, and so as I’m touched by both the generosity of my colleagues, as well as the drive and determination of my students.”

Congratulations to Dr. Chaput and his fellow award recipients.
