We are pleased to announce that Megan Nguyen, Pharm.D. will be joining us as the Associate Director and Founding Associate Dean of Pharmacy Student Affairs, for the planned UC Irvine School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Nguyen will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating several necessary aspects that surround the upcoming PharmD program including recruitment and admissions in accordance with ACPE and relevant higher education standards. She will also develop and enforce all policies and procedures related to student affairs and services.
Dr. Nguyen, is an alumna of UC Irvine and graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Biological Sciences and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy as part of their charter class. Currently, Dr. Nguyen is the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Western University of Health Sciences. During her time with Western University, Dr. Nguyen served as a member on the Dean’s Council advising the dean on admissions trends and managed admissions enrollment and retention processes to recruit highly qualified applicants. She was also active in didactic teaching, primarily focused in infectious diseases courses and provided clinical rotations in the areas of infectious diseases, research, teaching and internal medicine.
Dr. Nguyen will join us in July with eighteen years of experience in pharmacy education and will be a vital part of the continued development of the planned School of Pharmacy. I am excited to welcome Dr. Nguyen to the leadership team of the planned School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences. Her wealth of knowledge and expertise will be a valuable contribution to the evolution of pharmacy education that we are building here in Orange County.
