Director and Founding Dean Jan Hirsch recently published an article on “Patterns of Stress, Coping and Health-Related Quality of Life in Doctor of Pharmacy Students.” Through the use of three surveys taken three times a year, over the span of five years, she completed her research by examining the quality of life of 145 students who are completing the first couple years of their Doctor of Pharmacy education.

The study found that there was a significant increase in stress levels and use of coping mechanisms, while there was a decrease in overall health-related quality of life in these students. The article goes on to talk about programs that can be put into place that could potentially reduce these stress levels. To read more about Dr. Hirsch’s study and findings, read the full article here.
