Dominique Ingato selected to be student speaker at 2018 Graduate Hooding Ceremony

Doctoral Candidate Dominique Ingato from Dr. Young Jik Kwon’s BioTherapeutics (BioTel) Engineering Lab has been selected to be the speaker at this year’s Graduate Hooding Ceremony to take place on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Bren Events Center. This is a great honor as only one UCI student is selected each year.

Graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012 with a BSE in Chemical Engineering and second major in Chemistry, Dominique followed her passions for nanotechnology and cancer research to the BioTherapeutics Engineering Laboratory (BioTEL) at UCI.

During her first year in the MS/PhD program at UCI, she was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Outside of research, Dominique developed a passion for teaching that was encouraged by her advisor, Dr. Young Jik Kwon. She has taught numerous courses including Biopharmaceutics and Nanomedicine Lab and Molecular Pharmacology in Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Dominique will be completing her PhD in Summer 2018. After graduation, she will pursue a career in teaching as a tenure-track faculty member at MiraCosta College. She attributes her selection for this prestigious position to the “excellent pedagogical training she received at UCI, in part as a frequent teaching assistant and instructor for Pharmaceutical Sciences.”
