Spitale Lab awarded Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine Grant Award

Spitale Lab

The Spitale Lab has been awarded the UCI Institute for Clinical and Translational Science (ICTS) Rehabilitation & Regenerative Medicine Grant Award. The award will support a pilot project to understand RNA synthesis in transplanted neuronal stem cells, once transplanted inside the living mouse brain.

Their goal is to understand how RNA expression changes help transplanted cells fight neuronal inflammation and reduction in cognitive activity. This award stands on the shoulders of their recent publication in the Journal of the American Chemical Society, which details a novel method to track RNA synthesis inside cells.
