Dr. Alexandre Chan Recognized with Helen McKinnon Award from International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP)

Dr. Alexandre Chan, Founding Chair of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy Practice in the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, was honored by the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP) with the Helen McKinnon Award.

ISOPP is a professional organization that gives oncology pharmacists a space to network with others in the field, exchange knowledge, and establish best practices.

“Over my past two decades of involvement with ISOPP, I have been given many unique opportunities to collaborate with oncology pharmacists from all around the world, strengthening the impact of oncology pharmacists and conducting research projects that are essential to improving patient care,” Dr. Chan shared. “However, there is still so much that needs to be done to elevate cancer care around the world, particularly in low- and middle-income countries where oncology pharmacy practice is still in its infancy stage.”

The Helen McKinnon Award, named after a founding member of ISOPP, recognizes people who have significantly contributed to the group and the profession of oncology pharmacy at large.

“I’m truly honored to be the recipient of the Helen McKinnon Award. I would like to thank the ISOPP leadership and the members of the awards committee for selecting me as the recipient,” said Dr. Chan. “I hope that, by winning this award, I can inspire other pharmacists to step out of their comfort zones to make a positive impact on the world.”
