Kara Kim is this year’s Anteaters in Pharmacy Alumni Scholarship recipient!
The Anteaters in Pharmacy Alumni Scholarship is annually awarded to an undergraduate student in the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences to support their educational and career aspirations.
Kim is a BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences student whose interest in healthcare arose as she observed medical issues among the people in her community.
“Growing up, I was around a lot of older individuals who attended my church. As time passed, I saw these same individuals — once full of energy and vitality — gradually become more susceptible to illnesses,” she said. “Through their experiences, I came to understand the vital role that medicine plays in our lives.”
She celebrated receiving the scholarship alongside Anteaters in Pharmacy alumni chapter vice president Lilian Allahverdian at the UCI Alumni Association’s Scholars Dinner.
“Receiving this scholarship is incredibly meaningful to me, as it serves as powerful inspiration to keep pushing forward,” Kim shared. “It provides me with a sense of security and reassurance, knowing that there is a community of people who believe in me and are wholeheartedly committed to supporting my journey and aspirations.”
Following her graduation in June of 2027, Kim plans to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
“This scholarship will help support my goals and will allow me to dedicate more time to my education,” she said.
