UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Celebrates 119 Graduates in 2021 Commencement Ceremony

Commencement

UC Irvine hosted its campuswide Virtual Commencement on Saturday, June 12, with thousands logging on to celebrate the Class of 2021.

“Your class, the Class of 2021, will have a unique place in our institutional memory,” said UCI Chancellor Howard Gillman, “as the most resilient and responsive class we have ever had the privilege of teaching. Under the most extraordinary circumstances, you rose to the occasion, supported each other, adapted, and persisted. I could not be more proud of each and every one of you.”

In the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences Reception later in the day, the UCI School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences recognized and honored its first official class of graduates since becoming an official school in July 2020.

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences’ Class of 2021 features 119 graduates: 106 from the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences, eight from the Master of Science in Pharmacology, and five from the PhD in Pharmacological Sciences.

In a message to the graduates, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Founding Dean Jan Hirsch said: “As you leave UCI and prepare to embark on your next big adventure, my hope is that you take every opportunity that you are faced with in the future and continue to learn and grow as you did here at UCI. Please stay in touch so that we may join you in celebrating your many milestones and victories ahead!”

In addition to the Virtual Commencement on June 12, graduates will also have a chance to participate in the Graduate Stage Moments to be held from June 13-17.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences created this video as a way to reflect on the Class of 2021’s time at UCI and share in the excitement about their bright future ahead:

Now that the graduates are part of the UCI alumni family, they have an opportunity to join the Anteaters in Pharmacy Alumni Chapter, which offers endless networking and social events, volunteer opportunities, mentorship and more.
