Adeline and Robert Mah donate another $20 million toward Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building

"The Molecular Innovation Center, under the direction of Andrej Luptak, professor and chair of pharmaceutical sciences, will be located on the second floor of the Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building and will pursue next-generation drug design and therapeutics for cancer, neurodegenerative conditions, viral and bacterial infections, childhood diseases and other maladies." Preventing prediabetes

"If you have prediabetes, you don’t typically have any symptoms, and people may not take their nutrition that seriously, especially if they are active and busy and not feeling sick or exhausted. A lot of times, they just carry on with their lifestyle until it’s too late. Maybe there’s a better way to meet their needs without having them losing half a day in the clinic just to be told that they need to be healthier." (Joyce Lee)

National Academies progress report: health disparities

What 14 pharmacy chiefs will prioritize for the next 6 months

"The UCI Health Pharmacy Team will focus on developing ambulatory patient care strategies, including implementation of home infusion pharmacy services and further growth of clinical pharmacy medication management. We are opening an infusion center pharmacy and a retail pharmacy at the new UCI Health-Irvine Medical Complex in July, which will expand access to academic medicine across Orange County. "To help address this inequity, I am leading a research study supported by a two-year pilot award from the UCLA-UCI Center for Eliminating Cardiometabolic Disparities in Multi-Ethnic Populations (UC END DISPARITIES). The mission at UC END DISPARITIES centers around addressing these inequitable factors that disproportionately affect low-income and minority groups across Los Angeles County and Orange County.
