Student Pharmacist Jenny Nguyen Awarded National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP) Ron Bookman Memorial Scholarship

Jenny Nguyen, a student pharmacist in the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, has been awarded the Ron Bookman Memorial Scholarship from the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP).

Annually, NASP selects exceptional students from pharmacy schools throughout the country to receive the Ron Bookman Memorial Scholarship. Nguyen was one of only four students chosen this year. She was nominated to receive the scholarship by Dr. Tiffany Phung, Director of Specialty Pharmacy Value, Trade Relations, and Market Access at UC Davis Health. Dr. Phung is a NASP member and was a speaker at the organization’s 2024 Annual Meeting & Expo, where this year’s scholarship recipients were announced.

The scholarship was established to recognize and support students who exemplify the traits of late NASP member Ron Bookman, such as demonstrating a commitment to learning, leadership abilities, community involvement, and more. Bookman served as Senior Vice President of Trade Relations for Onco360 Oncology Pharmacy, which finances the Ron Bookman Memorial Scholarship, along with ConnectMed360.

“Thank you to NASP for supporting my pharmacy journey with this scholarship as I look towards a career in managed care, specialty pharmacy, and industry,” said Nguyen. “I am greatly humbled and honored to receive this recognition and give special thanks to Dr. Tiffany Phung, Dr. Aryana Sepassi, and all my professors for supporting me in my endeavors in specialty pharmacy. I would also like to highlight the pharmacy team at UC Davis Health, whom I have learned so much from during my UC Davis Specialty Pharmacy Market Access and Trade Relations APPE rotation.”
