Dr. Amal Alachkar has been appointed as the Equity Advisor for the UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
The establishment of Equity Advisors is an initiative of the ADVANCE Program, through the UCI Office of Inclusive Excellence. Equity Advisors are responsible for developing and enforcing best practices for faculty recruiting and setting up faculty development programs to further promote a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within their school. During her term as Equity Advisor, Dr. Alachkar will advise Founding Dean Jan Hirsch and faculty search committees on equity issues, particularly those concerning the hiring, retention, and development of faculty within the UCI School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Dr. Alachkar will begin her term as Equity Advisor on August 1st. She succeeds Dr. Mahtab Jafari in the role, who served as the Equity Advisor for the UCI School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences for the past three years.
