Society of Health-System Pharmacists Organizations Recognize UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences Chapter and Student

The UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences’ Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) chapter has been officially recognized by the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP) and national SSHP organization. Additionally, the California Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (CSHP) honored student pharmacist and chapter president Sara Ali with their Student Leadership Award!

ASHP, CSHP, and SSHP are premiere professional organizations in the pharmacy industry. The associations represent pharmacists throughout the nation, in each state, and at the student level. Official recognition by ASHP, CSHP, and SSHP can significantly contribute to the success of a chapter, providing a student organization with additional resources and contact with the national group. In order to be officially recognized by ASHP, a SSHP chapter must complete multiple career and professional development projects, including collaborations with their state affiliate.

The inaugural board of the UCI SSHP chapter received the fastest recognition from CSHP (compared to other California SSHP chapters), and the second board received the fastest national recognition from ASHP-SSHP. Typically, being officially recognized by ASHP-SSHP takes years following the submission of an application, but the UCI chapter was able to reach this milestone within one year of starting the process.

Sara Ali, student pharmacist and SSHP/CSHP/ASHP at UCI Chapter President 2022-2023, received a Student Leadership Award from CSHP. According to CSHP, this award “recognizes pharmacy students’ involvement in and contribution to CSHP and the profession of pharmacy.”

Congratulations to all our students who worked hard on making this achievement possible!
