Farah Khorassani Joins UC Irvine As Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor

The UC Irvine School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences welcomes Farah Khorassani, PharmD, BCPP, as a new faculty member serving in the role of health sciences associate clinical professor starting September 1, 2022.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Khorassani join UCI. She will be expanding the scope of pharmacy practice in psychiatry as well as interdisciplinary practice within UCI Health,” says Alexandre Chan, chair and professor of clinical pharmacy. “She has a wealth of experience in academic pharmacy, which will also help to grow our Doctor of Pharmacy program.”

Prior to joining UCI, Khorassani served as an associate clinical professor at St. John’s University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and as a clinical pharmacist in psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City.

She received her bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University at Buffalo and her PharmD from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Worcester, Massachusetts. She later completed a postgraduate year one residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital at Cornell and Columbia University Medical Center in New York City and a postgraduate year two residency in psychiatric practice at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Khorassani later joined the department of clinical health professions at St. John’s University in 2014. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Khorassani served as the faculty advisor to the student chapter of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists and maintained an active clinical role at Bellevue Hospital Center.

Her research interests include long-acting injectable antipsychotics and pharmacy student mental health.
