The RNA Symposium brings together the leading experts in RNA research. Over150 faculty, researchers, and graduate students from across Southern California will join us for a day of presentations from renowned scientists who will share their insights and innovative research. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. A reception will follow the symposium. Attendance is free and open to the public.
Featured Keynote Speaker
RNA methylation in gene expression regulation
Chuan He, PhD
Professor, University of Chicago
Professor He is famous for the discovery and mechanistic evaluation of RNA modifications. These modifications have been shown to be key in the regulation of cellular development, cancer, and neurological disorders.
Featured Young Investigator
RNA chaperones in brain development and cancer
Stephen N. Floor, PhD
Assistant Professor, University of California, San Francisco
Professor Floor works on trying to understand how RNAs are structured to control protein synthesis. His main focus is in embryonic stem cells and their differentiation. This work is poised to unlock the molecular code for how cells are made and specified.
Speakers
Nucleic acid-based insect adaptive immunity
Raul Andino. PhD,UCSF
TREX-2 in microRNA biogenesis in plants
Xuemei Chen, PhD,UCR
RNA splicing and the regulation of nutrient response in S. cerevisiae
Tracy Johnson, PhD,UCLA
Systematic mapping of RNA-chromatin interactions in vivo
Sheng Zhong, PhD,UCSD
RNA trafficking in mitochondria
Carla Koehler, PhD,UCLA
Understanding breast cancer initiation in single cell resolution
Kai Kessenbrock, PhD, UCI
