Undergraduate Graduation and Commencement

Applying for Graduation

You must file an Application for Graduation in Student Access by WEEK 2 of the quarter you intend to graduate. Ex. If you plan to graduate in winter, submit by WEEK 2 of winter quarter. Although you are highly encouraged to submit in Fall.

Email pharmsci@uci.edu to make any changes to your graduation application after it has been submitted.

Minors

Review the catalogue for requirements.

Email pharmsci@uci.edu to add or remove a minor to your DegreeWorks prior to submitting your graduation application. Minors must be indicated on your graduation application. Check your DegreeWorks to ensure you are on track with your minor. We will not certify minors that are incomplete.

Transcripts from Other Institutions

Please submit any/all official transcripts verifying completion of courses taken at other colleges and universities to Admissions as soon as possible. All corrections to your academic record must be processed within one month from the last day of the quarter in which you plan to graduate.

Double Majors

Regardless of how many majors you have earned, you may only walk in one school ceremony. Double or triple majors in different Schools may select the school ceremony they wish to walk in for commencement. Please be aware, when you log in to reserve commencement tickets, you will first be prompted to select the ceremony you wish to walk in.

Latin Honors

Approximately 16% of PharmSci graduating seniors will be awarded academic honors (Latin Honors). The most current GPA ranges and more information can be found on the Registrar’s website

Pharmaceutical Sciences announces Latin Honors once a year in early Spring. For students completing their degree requirements in the Spring, Latin honors for the annual commencement program will be conditional, and based on Winter grades. Actual honors that will be posted to your transcript and diploma will be calculated using your GPA after your final quarter at UCI.

Students must adhere to UCI’s academic honesty policy and have no charges of academic dishonesty on their record. In addition, students must complete 72 quarter units in residence at a UC campus by the end of the final term at UCI to be eligible to receive Latin Honors.

UCI Commencement Ceremony

UCI undergraduate commencement ceremonies are held each June for all students who graduate any quarter of that academic year (fall, winter, spring, summer). Commencement information comes from the Commencement Office. Note: PharmSci does not currently participate in the Winter Commencement Ceremony.

Fall graduates may participate in the June ceremony the year prior or following their graduation (ex: Fall 2024 graduates may participate in June 2023 or June 2024 Commencement). Summer graduates may participate in the June ceremony.

For relatives who need to obtain a visa to attend your commencement, graduates may write their own invitation letters for their family members. The International Center encourages graduates to obtain an enrollment verification from the Office of the Registrar. More details from the International Center here.

Diplomas & Transcripts

To learn when diplomas are available, how to obtain your diploma, and what is noted on your diploma, please review the Registrar’s website

You may order an Official Transcript from the UCI Registrar. The degree award date is the last day of the graduating term (or for Summer Session, the last day of Summer Session II). More information here; academic calendar here

Graduation & Financial Aid

PharmSci allows students to stay in the major for 4 years, up to summer after 4th year. Financial Aid covers until you complete requirements for your bachelor’s degree. We recommend leaving a GE course or major requirement to Spring Year 4 to ensure coverage of Financial Aid. Review Financial Aid’s policies

Please see Financial Aid’s policies:

According to federal regulations, undergraduate students are only eligible to receive financial aid while continuing to take classes towards their degree. Upon completion of the requirements to receive a bachelor’s degree for all declared majors, a student’s financial aid must cease. This is regardless of the student’s pursuit of a minor, acceptance of the degree, or submission of a formal petition (application) to graduate. If and when the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships learns that you have completed the requirements for a degree for all your declared majors, your future financial aid will be withdrawn.
