Diversity At UCI

Diversity at UCIThe University of California is committed to the recruitment, admission, and retention of a high quality and diverse graduate student population. Consequently, UC Irvine offers a number of fellowship awards for both entering and continuing diversity students.

Financial support packages will be awarded to students based on their academic achievements and their potential for diversity contribution to the school. Successful efforts at overcoming socioeconomic or other educational disadvantages are viewed, in combination with other factors, as indicators of current and future performance.

You may be considered for a diversity fellowship if you have experienced situations or conditions which were an impediment to advancing your studies, such as:

  • Socioeconomic or educational limitations
  • The absence of a family member who attended college
  • Matriculation in a school with poor financial or curricular support
  • Having a physical or learning disability
  • Working long hours while attending school

If you feel you may be a diversity candidate, please be sure to indicate this on your application for admission and in your personal statement.
