David Mobley launches Living Journal of Computational Molecular Science
PharmSci Professor David L. Mobley, in collaboration with Michael R. Shirts from the University of Colorado, Boulder and Daniel M. Zuckerman from the Oregon Health & Science University, have launched the Living Journal of Computational Molecular Science Journal (LiveCoMS), a peer-reviewed, open-access journal seeking to bring publication of educational, review, and best practices materials into the modern age.
The journal’s goal is to better align academic incentives with the realities of computational work that require development of community resources. “LiveCoMS allows authors to publish their work but then continue its development,” explains Mobley. “We provide a venue where authors can formally publish living documents including tutorials and ‘lessons learned’ articles that are updated on an ongoing basis, but which still have clear authorship.”
As of December 1, 2017, the journal is accepting submissions in the areas of:
- Best practice guides
- Perpetual reviews
- Lessons learned
- Comparisons of molecular simulation packages
The article submission charge of $100 covers the full costs of peer review and publication. For more information, contact David Mobley at dmobley@uci.edu.
