Chantel Tran accepted into Allergan Undergraduate Fellowship Program

UCI senior Chantel Tran has been accepted into Allergan’s Undergraduate Fellowship Program for Summer 2017. Chantel’s proposed research project is structural studies that probe the mechanism of unnatural nucleotide replication in engineered DNA polymerases. Chantel will be working closely and under the guidance of Nicholas Chim, Facilities Manager in the Chaput Lab. Chantel’s research will help the Chaput Lab look further into TNA polmerases and their activities. Her research findings will be formally presented at the UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium in May 2018.

The Allergan fellowship supports outstanding undergraduate students working in the field of synthetic organic chemistry. Students are nominated by their faculty research advisor and are provided funds to conduct their research.
